How much does it cost to build an outdoor kitchen

Drawing up a budget for the outdoor kitchen ideas you wish to include, can vary. Planning and budgeting is certainly key to keep costs under control. It can all boil down to what appliances you're going to put in and what materials you're going to use.

For a basic setup we would say it costs between £3,000 and £4,000. That will get you a quality barbecue, granite worktops, a few cupboards underneath and the finish of your choice. From there, you can build up your outdoor living space as much or as little as you wish. The choice is yours.

Our average kitchen that we offer - three meters long by three meters long - L-shaped kitchen is around £12,000. Obviously you can do it a lot cheaper than this but that is a good average - you could then add and spend up to £50,000+. There are lots of good appliances and storage spaces that you can put into an outdoor kitchen in terms of the modular versus the traditional style which is more expensive. Surprisingly they actually work out about the same.

Do also consider the price of building materials. Building materials are a lot cheaper but the labour is more expensive. A traditional style outdoor kitchen may take longer to build. An outdoor modular kitchen is more expensive to buy but they don't take long to put together. The labour is cheaper as it takes roughly a day to install them.

Traditional style

Traditional style building of an outdoor kitchen area involves more work in the building of it. We generally allow a week to build the kitchen and that will include either our bricklayers our carpenters coming in and constructing the kitchen. Depending on the size, it will take about 3-4 days to do that and we then book to arrange for the granite templators to come out on the last day. Once the worktops have been templated and  measured we have to wait one week for the turnaround of the granite to be manufactured. Once that's been fitted we can come in and fit all the appliances so with a traditional built kitchen it generally takes 2 weeks but probably only 5-6
days of labour.

We often get asked how long it takes to build our kitchens. In a nutshell, the outdoor modular kitchens that we do, don't take long. We've never had a modular designed kitchen take any longer than a day to install. We install it in a
matter of hours for you so you know we can start in the morning and you will be
cooking by the evening.
